Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen things about my name: MARISA

  1. No one can spell it.
  2. Even if you figure out how to spell it, you probably can't pronounce it.
  3. My mom had a friend named Marisa growing up. She had a terrible feeling my aunt was in trouble, walked into my mom's house and caught my aunt (who was then a baby) who had been thrown off the landing by another child.
  4. No one believes that story and it is absolutely true.
  5. Growing up I wanted to change my name to Lynn Marisa instead of Marisa Lynn so people would stop saying and spelling my name wrong.
  6. For many many years, I stopped answering people who mispronounced my name.
  7. I no longer do that.....usually.
  8. My name is Italian.
  9. I now love my name.
  10. Growing up I was the only Marisa I knew. It is fairly common now.
  11. I swore I would not name my child something crazy like my mom did me. haha - my son's name is Tristan and he has the EXACT same problem I did.
  12. In order to pronounce my name correctly, take one hand and squeeze your cheeks as you say: MARRREEESSSAAA.
