“The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.” (Proverbs 14:1 NIV)

Ladies, it’s so easy for us to see the shortcomings in our men. It can become second nature to sigh and huff and complain when they don’t do the things we think they should.  But ladies, does that really get us anywhere but into a fight? Does our rude, snippy comment to our spouse really do any good or are we just giving into our worldly impulse to tear him down?

Instead ladies, I implore you to constantly lift him up.  Focus on what he does do, instead of what he forgets.  Focus on the nice words he says to you and don’t even hear the harsh word he said to you without thinking.  Go one step further…don’t let a negative word about your husband pass your lips.  He is your other half. He is the one who picked you to spend the rest of his life with.  If we can’t do him this one honor, what can we do? Be the one who builds him up; he needs it from you more than anyone else in the whole world.

It’s vitally important that we constantly remind ourselves that this is for life.  Marriage is not until it’s convenient or until we can’t take it anymore.  It’s for life.  After a time of constantly reminding yourself to compliment and lift him up, ladies, I promise you it will become easier and you will begin to see your husband in the light in which you shine him to others.

God I will honor you by honoring my husband. I will lift him up; and I will break my worldly habit and I will no longer tear my marriage apart. I will be the glue. God, with your help, I will be the wife he needs me to be and I will see him as the husband I know he is.
